A downloadable Epic Retro Experience for Windows and macOS

Hold onto your hats folks, you're in for a wild ride all the way back to 1972! Pong was the first video game ever released, and has been a staple in arcades everywhere for more than 50 years! I first played it at a museam exibit, and the simplicity has stuck with me ever since. If you look at modern video games such as first-person-shooters, most have enough functional keys to occupy both hands and then some! I have tried to keep within the intuitiveness of the original, but there are a few minor adaptations; the first being controller compatibility!

You can link up to 2 controllers to your computer and use the right stick to control your paddle. Using the stick button will pause the game.

It can be played with the keyboard too, and in that case you'll be using WASD and the arrow buttons. The pause key is the space bar. For single player you'll also be using WASD, and can pause in the same way.

In single player mode you'll be playing against a wall that slowly moves closer and closer until you can't keep up with it. You're given a score, so if you can beat the high score let me know in the comments.

High Scores    -*- #1: 54, LowKeyDev -*-

Sorry I had to upload the high score recording as a file, I don't have a youtube account.

Press R on the keyboard or the Left shoulder trigger on controller to change the music. There are several beautiful retro anthems to choose from, some far more catchy than others ;)

In addition, by pressing the OS key (command, for Mac only. May also work with Windows ctrl or the command equivelant) you unlock Birthday mode. The screen will switch to high-contrast, and all you have to do is type the name of the person you'd like to wish Happy Brithday and press enter (keep in mind that it is case sensitive, so if you type "bob" it will display "Happy Birthday bob" as opposed to "Bob"). At the end of the match instead of displaying "P1/P2 Wins!" it will show your Birthday message while playing a cute 8-bit remix of the Happy Birthday song. Thanks to iambaney and krai on Internet Archive.

Credit to Eric Matyas @ soundimage.com for creating most of the music for this, David Fesliyan @ fesliyanstudios.com, and Chips 'n' Chellos on Internet Archive for his awesome remix of that little something that you can access by playing with the music settings. All of the bit noise sound effects came from a website that claimed they were original (I don't remember which website, but I guess they sound about right), and the explosion sound is from Contra. I think that came from Internet Archive as well.
